OPENING FACULTY POSITION IN THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL OCEANOGRAPHY, OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE, UNIVERSITY OF SÃO PAULO (IOUSP), BRAZIL
The Dean of the Oceanographic Institute of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, announces the opening faculty position (position No. 1008161, full-time dedication service), in the Department of Biological Oceanography, specialty “Ictioplancton”.
Interested applicants should hold a Ph.D. The position requires commitment to teaching and ability to conduct independent research. Applications will be accepted between September 06th, 2022, at 00:01 a.m., to Dezember 07th, 2022, at 23:59 p.m. (GMT -3). The entry-level annual salary (MS3 level) is R$ 160.287,00 plus benefits.

The concurs can be performed in Portuguese or English and will cover the following topics:
1) Reproductive biology of marine fish and its relationship with patterns of abundance at different stages of life.
2) Phylogeny, ontogenesis and organogenesis in fish: phases and processes.
3) Ichthyoplankton collection and analysis methods: anatomical, morphological and molecular techniques.
4) Spatial and temporal varies in the abundance and diversity of marine eggs and larvae and their forcings.
5) Ecology of marine fish larvae and trophic foods, feeding behavior.
6) Analysis of age and growth conditioning factors in fish larvae.
7) Estimates of mortality and causes of mortality in fish larvae.
8) Estimation of spawning stock biomass by EPM (Egg Production Method) and similar: differentials and exclusives.
The concurs will be disciplined by Brazilian constitutional principles, notably that of impersonality, as well as by the provisions of the Statute and General Regulations of the University of São Paulo and the Regulations of IOUSP.

4) Geochemical and oceanographic factors that influence microbial distribution in the deep sea
5) Chemosynthetic symbionts in the deep sea.
6) Impacts of climate change and exploitation of natural resources on the deep sea microbiome.
7) Deep sea microbiome ecosystem services.
